Hadith 1202

It is narrated from Ata’ (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding a menstruating woman taking something from the mosque, he said: She may pick it up except for the Mushaf (copy of the Qur’an).

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Ahadith 1198 to 1202)

There are differing opinions among the scholars regarding a menstruating woman (ha’idhah) and a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) entering the mosque, or taking or placing something there. The correct view is that a menstruating woman may insert her hand to take or place something. In a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), a person may, in case of necessity, pass through the mosque, but sitting or standing there is not appropriate. The details of this will be discussed in the next chapter.
