أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ مَوْلَى عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ نُدْبَةَ مَوْلَاةِ مَيْمُونَةَ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ "يُبَاشِرُ الْمَرْأَةَ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ إِذَا كَانَ عَلَيْهَا إِزَارٌ، يَبْلُغُ أَنْصَافَ الْفَخِذَيْنِ أَوْ الرُّكْبَتَيْنِ مُحْتَجِزَةً بِهِ".
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen, the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ), Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would have intimacy with any of his wives during menstruation from above the waist-wrapper, which would be tied up to half of the thigh or the knee.

From all these narrations, it is established that during menstruation (hayd), it is permissible to have intimacy with a woman, to lie with her, and to eat and drink with her. In this state, only intercourse (jima‘) is prohibited.
