- " كان يعرض يوما خيلا وعنده عيينة بن حصن بن بدر الفزاري، فقال له رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : أنا أفرس بالخيل منك. فقال عيينة: وأنا أفرس بالرجال منك! فقال له النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم : وكيف ذاك؟ قال: خير الرجال رجال يحملون سيوفهم على عواتقهم، جاعلين رماحهم على مناسج خيولهم، لابسو البرود من أهل نجد، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : كذبت، بل خير الرجال رجال أهل اليمن، والإيمان يمان إلى لخم وجذام وعاملة، ومأكول حمير خير من آكلها، وحضرموت خير من بني الحارث، وقبيلة خير من قبيلة، وقبيلة شر من قبيلة، والله ما أبالي أن يهلك الحارثان كلاهما، لعن الله الملوك الأربعة: جمداء ومخوساء ومشرخاء وأبضعة، وأختهم العمردة. ثم قال: أمرني ربي عز وجل أن ألعن قريشا مرتين، فلعنتهم. وأمرني أن أصلي عليهم، فصليت عليهم مرتين. ثم قال: عصية عصت الله ورسوله غير قيس وجعدة وعصية (¬1) . ثم قال: لأسلم وغفار ومزينة وأخلاطهم من جهينة، خير من بني أسد وتميم وغطفان وهوازن عند الله عز وجل يوم القيامة. ثم قال: شر قبيلتين في العرب نجران وبنو تغلب، وأكثر القبائل في الجنة مذحج ومأكول ". ¬ (¬1) كذا الأصل، وكذا في " جامع المسانيد " (10 / 19) و " المجمع "، ولم يتبين لي وجه استثنائه بعد إثباته! . اهـ.
- "One day he was reviewing horses, and with him was ‘Uyainah ibn Hisn ibn Badr al-Fazari. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: I am more discerning of horses than you. ‘Uyainah said: And I am more discerning of men than you! The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: And how is that? He said: The best of men are men who carry their swords on their shoulders, placing their spears on the weavings of their horses, wearing striped cloaks, from the people of Najd. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: You have lied, rather the best of men are the men of Yemen, and faith is Yemeni up to Lakhm, Judham, ‘Amilah, and the food of Himyar is better than its eater, and Hadramawt is better than Banu al-Harith, and a tribe is better than a tribe, and a tribe is worse than a tribe, and by Allah, I do not care if both al-Hariths perish. May Allah curse the four kings: Jamda’, Mukhawsa’, Mushrikha’, and Abda’, and their sister al-‘Amardah. Then he said: My Lord, Mighty and Majestic, commanded me to curse Quraysh twice, so I cursed them. And He commanded me to pray for them, so I prayed for them twice. Then he said: ‘Usayyah disobeyed Allah and His Messenger, except Qays, Ja‘dah, and ‘Usayyah. (__REF_N__). Then he said: Aslam, Ghifar, Muzaynah, and their mixtures from Juhaynah are better than Banu Asad, Tamim, Ghatafan, and Hawazin with Allah, Mighty and Majestic, on the Day of Resurrection. Then he said: The worst two tribes among the Arabs are Najran and Banu Taghlib, and the most numerous tribes in Paradise are Madhhij and Ma’kul." (__REF_N__) This is how it is in the original, and likewise in "Jami‘ al-Masanid" (10/19) and "al-Majma‘", and I have not discerned the reason for the exception after affirming it! End.

- (آخرُ مَن يدخلُ الجنةَ رجلٌ؛ فهو يمشي مرة، ويكبو مرةً، وتسفعُهُ النارُ مرةً، فإذا ما جاوزَها التفتَ إليها فقال: تباركَ الذي نجاني منكِ، لقدْ أعطاني الله شيئاً ما أعطاه أحداً من الأولين والآخرين، فتُرفعُ لهُ شجرةٌ، فيقولُ: أيْ ربِّ! أدنني من هذه الشجرة، فلأستظلَّ بظلِّها، وأشربَ من مائها، فيقولُ الله عزّ وجلّ: يا ابن أدم! لعلِّي إن أعطيتُكَها سألتني غيرها؟ فيقولُ: لا يا ربِّ! ويعاهدُه أن لا يسألَه غيرها، وربُّه يعذِرُه؛ لأنَّه يرى ما لا صبْرَ لَهُ عليه، فيدنيهِ منها، فيستَظلُّ بظلِّها، ويشربُ من مائها. ثم ترفعُ له شجرةً هي أحسن من الأولى، فيقولُ: أيْ ربِّ! أدنني من هذه لأشربَ من مائها، وأستظلَّ بظلِّها، لا أسأَلُكَ غيرها، فيقولُ: يا ابن آدم! ألم تعاهدْني أن لا تسألنِي غيرها؟ فيقول: لعلِّي إن أدنيتُك منها تسألُني غيرها؟ فيعاهدهُ أن لا يسألَه غيرَها، وربُّه يعذرُه؛ لأنَّه يرى ما لا صَبْرَ له عليه، فيدنيهِ منها، فيستظلُّ بظلِّها، ويشربُ من مائها. ثم ترفعُ له شجرةٌ عند باب الجنة هي أحسن من الأولَيَيْنِ، فيقولُ: أيْ ربِّ! أدنني من هذه لأستظلَّ بظلِّها، وأشربَ من مائها، لا أسألُكَ غيرها! فيقولُ: يا ابن آدمَ! ألمْ تعاهدني أن لا تسألَني غيرها؟ قال: بلى يا ربِّ! هذه لا أسألُك غيرها، وربُّه يعذرُه؛ لأنه يرى ما لا صَبْرَ له عليها، فيدنيه منها. فيسمعُ أصوات أهل الجنة فيقولُ: أيْ ربِّ! أدخِلنِيها، فيقول: أيِ ابنَ أدمَ! ما يَصْرِيني منكَ؟ أيرضيك أن أعطيكَ الدنيا ومثلَها معَها؟ قال: يا ربِّ! أتستهزئ مني وأنت ربُّ العالمين؟ فضحكَ ابنُ مسعودٍ، فقالَ: ألا تسألوني ممَ أضحكُ؟ فقالوا: ممَ تضحكُ؟ قال: من ضَحِكِ ربِّ العالمين حين قال: أتستهزئ مني وأنتَ ربُّ العالمين؟ فيقول: إني لا أستهزئُ منكَ، ولكنِّي على ما أشاء قادر. - وفي رواية: قدير-) (¬1) .
- The last person to enter Paradise will be a man; he will walk once, stumble once, and the Fire will scorch him once. When he has passed beyond it, he will turn to it and say: "Blessed is He who has saved me from you! Allah has given me something that He has not given to anyone among the first and the last." Then a tree will be raised up for him, and he will say: "O Lord! Bring me near to this tree so that I may take shelter in its shade and drink from its water." Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say: "O son of Adam! Perhaps if I grant you this, you will ask Me for something else?" He will say: "No, O Lord!" and he will pledge not to ask Him for anything else. And his Lord will excuse him, for he sees what he has no patience for. So He will bring him near to it, and he will take shelter in its shade and drink from its water.
Then a tree better than the first will be raised up for him, and he will say: "O Lord! Bring me near to this one so that I may drink from its water and take shelter in its shade. I will not ask You for anything else." He will say: "O son of Adam! Did you not pledge to Me that you would not ask Me for anything else? Perhaps if I bring you near to it, you will ask Me for something else?" He will pledge not to ask Him for anything else, and his Lord will excuse him, for he sees what he has no patience for. So He will bring him near to it, and he will take shelter in its shade and drink from its water.
Then a tree will be raised up for him at the gate of Paradise, better than the first two, and he will say: "O Lord! Bring me near to this one so that I may take shelter in its shade and drink from its water. I will not ask You for anything else!" He will say: "O son of Adam! Did you not pledge to Me that you would not ask Me for anything else?" He will say: "Yes, O Lord! This time I will not ask You for anything else," and his Lord will excuse him, for he sees what he has no patience for. So He will bring him near to it.
He will hear the voices of the people of Paradise and will say: "O Lord! Admit me into it." He will say: "O son of Adam! What will satisfy you from Me? Would it please you if I gave you the world and as much again with it?" He will say: "O Lord! Are You mocking me while You are the Lord of the worlds?" Ibn Mas'ud laughed and said: "Will you not ask me why I am laughing?" They said: "Why are you laughing?" He said: "At the laughter of the Lord of the worlds when he said: 'Are You mocking me while You are the Lord of the worlds?'" He will say: "I am not mocking you, but I am able to do whatever I will." - And in another narration: "Powerful."-) ( ).
Then a tree better than the first will be raised up for him, and he will say: "O Lord! Bring me near to this one so that I may drink from its water and take shelter in its shade. I will not ask You for anything else." He will say: "O son of Adam! Did you not pledge to Me that you would not ask Me for anything else? Perhaps if I bring you near to it, you will ask Me for something else?" He will pledge not to ask Him for anything else, and his Lord will excuse him, for he sees what he has no patience for. So He will bring him near to it, and he will take shelter in its shade and drink from its water.
