Hadith 4019
Sayyiduna Abu Wa’il (may Allah be pleased with him) said that someone said to Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him): “Will you not go to Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) and speak to him about what he has done?” He replied: “Do you think that whatever I speak to him about, I will inform you people of it? I will speak to him privately without opening the door, because in the light of a hadith, I do not wish to be the first to open the door, nor can I say about my leader, if he is truly a leader, that he is the best of people.” It was asked: “Which hadith is that?” He said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and thrown into the Fire. His intestines will come out and he will circle around them like a donkey circles around a millstone. The people will see him and say: ‘O so-and-so! Why were you thrown in here? You used to command us to do good and forbid us from evil!’ He will say: ‘I used to command you to do good, but I did not do it myself, and I used to forbid you from evil, but I did not refrain from it myself.’”
