Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Imam Nafi narrates from Saibah, the slave woman of Fakih bin Mughira, that she went to Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and, seeing a spear in her house, asked: "O Mother of the Believers! What do you do with this spear?" She replied: "We kill lizards with it, because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'When Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was thrown into the fire, every animal tried to extinguish the fire (made an effort), except the lizard, which blew on it (to ignite the fire).' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered it to be killed."
