Number of Prophets; Difference Between Messenger and Prophet; Time Between Adam & Noah, Noah & Ibrahim (AS)
Hadith 3830
- (كان بين آدمَ ونوحٍ عشرةُ قرونِ، وبين نوحٍ وإبراهيم عشرةُ قرونٍ)
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Was Adam (peace be upon him) a prophet?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes, he was taught and he was spoken to (by Allah, the Exalted)." He asked, "What was the time span between him and Nuh (peace be upon him)?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Ten centuries (or ten generations)." He asked, "What was the time span between Nuh (peace be upon him) and Ibrahim (peace be upon him)?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Ten centuries." Then the companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah! How many messengers have passed in total?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Three hundred and fifteen, a large group."
Hadith 3831
- " كان آدم نبيا مكلما، كان بينه وبين نوح عشرة قرون، وكانت الرسل ثلاثمائة وخمسة عشر ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked: O Messenger of Allah! Was Adam (peace be upon him) a prophet? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Yes, and he was spoken to." He asked: What was the time span between him and Nuh (peace be upon him)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ten centuries." He asked: O Messenger of Allah! How many messengers were there in total? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Three hundred and fifteen."
