Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Jews split into seventy-one sects; one of them entered Paradise and seventy entered Hell. The Christians split into seventy-two sects; one of them entered Paradise and seventy-two entered the Fire of Hell. And by the One in Whose hand is my soul! My Ummah will split into seventy-three sects; one of them will go to Paradise and seventy-two to Hell." It was asked: O Messenger of Allah! Who are they (those who will enter Paradise)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those who are upon the way of the group (the congregation)."
