State of Revelation to the Prophet (PBUH)
Hadith 3791
- (أحياناً يأتينِي في مثل صَلصلَةِ الجَرَسِ، وهو أشدُّه عليَّ، ثمّ يَفصِمُ عنِّي وقد وَعَيتُه، وأحياناً ملَكٌ في مثلِ صُورِة الرّجُلِ، فأَعِي ما يقولُ) .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: Sayyiduna Harith bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "What is the state in which revelation comes to you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Sometimes it comes to me like the ringing of a bell, and this state is very hard on me. When this state passes, I remember what was revealed. And sometimes the angel comes to me in the form of a man, then he speaks to me and I remember what he says."
Hadith 3792
- " كان إذا نزل الوحي عليه ثقل لذلك، وتحدر جبينه عرقا كأنه الجمان، وإن كان في البرد ".
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), who says: When revelation would descend upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he would fall into hardship, and sweat like pearls would flow from his forehead, even if it was the cold season.
