Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Abu Asad Dailami says: One morning I went to Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with them), and he said to me: Abu Aswad! Then he narrated this hadith that a man from the tribe of Juhaina or Muzaina came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! The people are acting and striving hard. Has their decision already been made and destiny already enforced, or are people acting anew upon the teachings brought by their Prophet, by which proof has been established against them? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “(The matter of these deeds) has already been decided and destiny has already been enforced.” He said: O Messenger of Allah! Then why are people acting? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Allah Almighty will grant the ability to do deeds in accordance with the destination (i.e., Paradise or Hell) for which He created each individual. The confirmation of my statement is present in the Qur’an: ‘By the soul and Him Who proportioned it, and inspired it with its wickedness and its righteousness.’ (__QUR_N__ Surah Ash-Shams: 7-8).”
