Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Shaddad bin Aws! When you see people gathering treasures of gold and silver, then recite this supplication frequently: 'O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in religion and determination upon guidance, and I ask You for those matters that make Your mercy obligatory and Your forgiveness necessary. I ask You for gratitude for Your blessings and for worshipping You in a good manner. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue, and I ask You for every good that You know, and I seek refuge in You from every evil that You know, and I seek Your forgiveness for all those sins that You know. Surely, You are the Knower of the unseen.'"
