Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

The wife of the Messenger, Sayyidah Sawdah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(On the Day of Resurrection) when people will be raised, they will be naked, barefoot, and uncircumcised. (Their sweat) will bridle them and will reach up to their earlobes." Sayyidah Sawdah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah! Alas! The private parts will be exposed and people will look at each other? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "People will be too preoccupied to do that (i.e., the terror and severity of the situation will not allow them to look at one another)." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: «يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ الْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ ٭ وَأُمِّهِ وَأَبِيهِ ٭ وَصَاحِبَتِهِ وَبَنِيهِ ٭ لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ» "On that Day a man will flee from his brother, and his mother and his father, and his wife and his children. Every one of them, that Day, will have enough concern of his own to make him indifferent to the others." (80: Abasa: 34, 35, 36, 37)

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "(On the Day of Resurrection) the first to be clothed will be Ibrahim Khalilullah (peace be upon him)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "People will be raised on the Day of Resurrection, and I and my Ummah will be on a mound. Allah, the Exalted, will clothe me in a green garment. Then I will be granted permission, and I will say whatever Allah wills. This is the Praised Station (Maqam Mahmood)."

When the time of death approached for Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), he called for new clothes and put them on, and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: “Indeed, the deceased will be raised in the clothes in which he dies.”
