Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Gog and Magog dig (the great barrier) every day. When they see the rays of the (setting) sun, their leader says to them: 'Go back now, you will finish digging it tomorrow.' But Allah returns it to a harder state than before. (This will continue) until their appointed time comes and Allah wills to send them upon the people. They will begin to dig until the rays of the (setting) sun appear to them. Their leader will say: 'Go back now, if Allah wills, we will complete its digging tomorrow.' (Before this, they will not have said 'if Allah wills', only this time they will say it.) When they come (in the morning), they will find it in the same state as they left it. They will dig it completely and emerge upon the people. They will dry up the water, and people will take refuge in strong fortresses. They will shoot their arrows towards the sky, and after doing so, they will say: 'We have subdued the people of the earth and have also overpowered the people of the sky.' (Eventually) Allah will create a worm in their necks, by which they will die." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul! The animals of the earth will become fat and healthy by eating their flesh."

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Yajuj and Majuj will be released and they will rush upon the people, as Allah Almighty has said: 'They will come from every elevation, hastening.' (__QUR_N__: Surah Anbiya: 96) They will spread across the earth, and the Muslims, to save themselves from them, will retreat into their cities and fortresses, taking their livestock with them. Yajuj and Majuj will drink up the water of the earth, (and they will drink so much water that) some of them will pass by a river and drink all its water, and the river will become dry. When those who come after them pass by, they will say: 'There used to be water here at one time.' When no human being remains except those who have taken refuge in fortresses or cities (whom they can see), they will say: 'These were the people of the earth, (their story is finished), we have dealt with them; now only the people of the heavens remain. (We should think about overpowering them.)' So one of them will shake his spear with some force and throw it towards the sky, and it will return blood-stained. This will be a trial and tribulation for them. While they are in this state, suddenly Allah Almighty will create a worm like that of a locust in their necks, because of which all of them will die, and no sound will be heard from them. The Muslims will say: 'Is there anyone who will risk himself to see what the enemy is doing?' One man, with the intention of reward, will go out, thinking that he will be killed. He will descend (from his fortress or city) and find them dead, their corpses lying on top of each other. He will call out: 'O assembly of Muslims! Listen carefully! Rejoice, Allah Almighty has sufficed you against your enemies.' They will come out of their fortresses and cities, and will graze their livestock, and there will be no fodder for them except their flesh; by eating that flesh, they will become as fat and healthy as they used to be by eating the best fodder."

Lady Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates from Lady Zainab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us one day, he was anxious and his face was red, and these words were on his tongue: “«لا اله الا الله» Woe to the Arabs because of an evil that has drawn near, today a portion has been opened from the wall of Gog and Magog.” And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made a circle with his two fingers (the thumb and the finger next to it) to show it. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Will we be destroyed while there are righteous people among us? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Yes, when evil becomes widespread.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Today, a hole as big as this has been made in the great barrier of Gog and Magog." Wahib (clarifying the matter) made a knot of ninety (90) and joined his fingers together.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Nawwas bin Sam'an (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "People will burn the bows, arrows, and shields of Gog and Magog and use them as fuel for seven years."
