Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) had greenness in her eyes. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "How did this greenness come into your eyes?" She said: I told my husband, I saw in a dream that the moon had fallen into my lap. Upon hearing this dream, he slapped me and said: Do you wish for the king of Yathrib (i.e., Madinah Munawwarah)? Then she (Safiyyah) herself said: There was nothing more disliked to me than the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), because he had killed my father and my husband. But the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) kept presenting excuses and said: "Safiyyah! (Look!) Your father incited the Arabs against me and committed such and such (crimes)..." He kept presenting excuses. Eventually, she said: (What I was feeling) left my heart.
