I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A group from my Ummah will remain steadfast upon the truth; their opponents will not be able to harm them, until the command of Allah comes and they will be dominant over the people."

Hadith 3481

It is narrated from Jubair bin Nufair that Sayyiduna Salamah bin Nufail (may Allah be pleased with him) told him that he came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I have tired out my horse, thrown away my weapons, and fighting has laid down its arms; now there will be no more jihad." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Now the command for jihad has come. A group from my ummah will remain dominant over the people. Allah will turn some people's hearts away from Islam, and that group will fight them, and Allah will provide them sustenance (through war booty) from them, until Allah's command comes and they will remain in that state. Be aware! The real homes of the believers are in Shaam, and goodness and blessings have been written in the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection."

Hadith 3484
Umair bin Aswad and Kathir bin Murrah Hadhrami say that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Ibn Simt used to say that Muslims will remain present on the earth until the Day of Resurrection, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A group from my Ummah will remain steadfast on Allah’s command; their opponents will not be able to harm them in any way. They will continue to fight against their enemies; whenever one battle ends, another will begin. Allah will keep turning people’s hearts away so that He may provide them sustenance through them (i.e., through the spoils of war), until the Day of Resurrection comes. It will be as if they are pieces of a dark night, and because of this, they will become anxious, until they wear small coats of mail." And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These are the people of Sham (Greater Syria)." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed towards Sham with his finger, scratching the ground (i.e., drawing a line towards Sham), until it caused him discomfort.
