Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

The wife of the Messenger, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), says: During the time of the Messenger, I was delayed in returning home after Isha. When I came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Where were you?" I said: I was listening to the (enchanting) recitation of a companion. I had never heard such (beautiful) recitation and voice from anyone before. Upon hearing this, the Prophet got up and set out, and I went with him. He listened attentively to that man's recitation and, turning to me, said: "This is Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifah. All praise is due to Allah who has produced such individuals in my Ummah."
