Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the scholars are presented before their Lord, Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) will be ahead of them by the distance of a stone's throw." This hadith is narrated mursal from Sayyiduna Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), Muhammad ibn Ka'b, Abu 'Awn, and Hasan al-Basri.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The one who knows the most about what Allah has made lawful and unlawful is Mu'adh bin Jabal."
