Hadith 3202
- " شاهت الوجوه [شاهت الوجوه] ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the noble leaders of the Quraysh gathered in Hatim. They made a pact among themselves in the names of Lat, Uzza, Na’ila, and Isaf that if they saw Muhammad (ﷺ), all of them would attack him at once and would not turn back without killing him. The daughter of the Prophet (ﷺ), Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), came to him crying and said: “These Quraysh chiefs have made a pact among themselves that wherever they see you, they will attack you all at once and kill you. Each one of them has decided his share in your blood.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “My daughter! Bring water for ablution.” The Prophet (ﷺ) performed ablution and went to them in the House of Allah. When they saw him, they said: “This is he (Muhammad ﷺ).” Then they lowered their eyes, bowed their heads, remained standing in their places, and none of them looked at him or rushed towards him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went to them, stood by them, took a handful of pebbles, and said: “Faces have become ugly.” Then he threw that handful at them. Whoever among them was hit by a pebble was killed in a state of disbelief on the day of Badr.
