Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, four types of people will be brought: a child, an insane person, one who died during the interval between two messengers, and a very old man. Each of them will present their own arguments. Allah, the Exalted, will say to the neck (i.e., a flare) of the Fire: Appear! Then Allah, the Exalted, will say: I used to send messengers to them from among My servants, and now I Myself am My messenger to them and I say: (Now all of you) enter this Fire. The wretched ones will say: O our Lord! How can we enter it? We used to flee from it! The fortunate ones (acting upon Allah’s command) will proceed and rush into it quickly and forcefully. Then Allah, the Exalted, will say: You (the wretched ones who did not enter the Fire) were very bold in denying My messengers and disobeying them. Now these (the obedient ones) will enter Paradise and these (the disobedient ones) will enter the Fire." This hadith is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal, Sayyiduna Aswad bin Sari', and Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with them).
