Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: A man was reciting Surah Al-Kahf, (nearby) his animal was tied, the animal suddenly started to shy away, he saw that a cloud was covering him, he became frightened and went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I asked: Did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mention the name of that man? He said: Yes. So he (the man) (when he reached the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) told the whole matter. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Abu so-and-so! Keep reciting, it was tranquility (sakinah) which descended for the recitation of the Qur’an.”
