Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Verses have been revealed to me which are unparalleled (in the chapter of seeking refuge), and they are: from «قل اعوذ برب الفلق» to the end of the surah and from «قل اعوذ برب الناس» to the end of the surah."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abis Jahni, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me: "Ibn Abis! Shall I not tell you the most excellent (remembrance) with which those who seek refuge, seek refuge?" I said: O Messenger of Allah! Why not. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "These are two surahs: Surah Al-Falaq «قل اعوذ برب الفلق» and Surah An-Nas «قل اعوذ برب الناس»."

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He (peace be upon him) said: "O Uqbah bin Amir! Maintain ties with the one who severs relations with you. Give to the one who deprives you. Forgive the one who wrongs you." I then came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) again, and he (peace be upon him) said: "Uqbah bin Amir! Restrain your tongue, weep over your mistakes, and let your house contain you (do not leave your house without necessity)." Later, when I met him (for the third time), he (peace be upon him) said: "Uqbah bin Amir! Shall I not teach you such Surahs that no Surahs like them were revealed in the Torah, nor in the Psalms, nor in the Gospel, nor in the rest of the Qur'an? Recite them every night. These Surahs are: Surah Ikhlas «قل هو الله احد», Surah Falaq «قل اعوذ برب الفلق», and Surah Nas «قل اعوذ برب الناس»."
