Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person is given a gift and he is wealthy, he should give something in return. If he has nothing, then he should praise (the giver), for whoever praises has expressed gratitude, and whoever conceals (it) has shown ingratitude. Such a person is like one who wears two false garments, pretending to possess something that was not given to him."
