Hadith 2833
- " لا يتكلفن أحد لضيفه ما لا يقدر عليه ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No person should go beyond his means in making arrangements for a guest."
Hadith 2834
- " نهانا عن التكلف (للضيف) ".
Shaqiq says that I and a friend of mine went to Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him). He (as a host) presented bread and something salty, and said: If the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had not forbidden affectation, I would have made special arrangements for you. My friend said: If some mountain mint had been added to the salty dish (it would have been very good). He sent a jug-like vessel as collateral to the vegetable seller and had mint brought. When we had finished eating, my friend said: All praise is due to Allah who enabled us to be content with this provision. Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you had been content with your provision, my vessel would not have been left as collateral with the vegetable seller.
