Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Zaid bin Aslam narrates from his father that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) saw Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) pulling his tongue. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "O Caliph of the Messenger! What are you doing?" He replied: "This (tongue) leads me to destruction." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every part of the body complains to Allah Almighty about the sharpness of the tongue."
