Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Aswad bin Asram Muharibi (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Advise me with some counsel." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Restrain your hand (and in another narration:) Extend your hand only towards goodness and virtue."
