Even hardship from the Prophet ﷺ is mercy
Hadith 2726
- (اللهمَّ! إنِّي أتّخذُ عندَك عهداً لن تُخلِفَنِيهِ، فإنّما أنا بشَرٌ؛ فأيُّ المؤمنينَ آذيتُه؛ شتمتُه، لعنتُه، جلدته؛ فاجعلها له صلاةً، وزكاةً، وقربةً تقرّبه بها إليكَ يومَ القيامةِ) .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah! I ask You for a promise, so do not oppose it. I am but a human being; if I have caused any believer pain, or spoken harshly to him, or cursed him, or beaten him, then make that for him a means of mercy, purification, and nearness (to You), which will bring him close to You on the Day of Resurrection."
