Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When you see those who praise you, throw dust on their faces." This hadith is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdad bin Aswad, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, and Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with them).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Avoid praising one another, for it is akin to slaughtering."
