Etiquette of protecting home and belongings; avoid going out at night
Hadith 2683
- " إذا كان جنح الليل، فكفوا صبيانكم، فإن الشياطين تنتشر حينئذ، فإذا ذهبت ساعة من العشاء فخلوهم ".
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the time of night approaches, then keep your children inside, for at that time the devils spread out, and when the initial part of the darkness has passed, then let them go."
Hadith 2684
- (إذا سمعتُم نُباحَ الكلبِ بالليل أو نُهاقَ الحميرِ؛ فتعوّذوا باللهِ؛ فإنَّهم يرون ما لا ترون. وأقلّوا الخروج إذا هدَأتِ الرِّجلُ؛ فإنّ الله يبُثُّ في ليلهِ من خلقِه ما يشاء. وأجيفُوا الأبوابَ، واذكرُوا اسم الله عليها؛ فإن الشيطان لا يفتحُ باباً أُجيفَ وذُكرَ اسمُ اللهِ عليه. وغطُّوا الجرار، وأكفِئُوا الآنية، وأؤكُوا القِربَ) .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "When you hear the barking of dogs or the braying of donkeys at night, seek refuge with Allah, for they see things which you do not see. When people have gone to sleep, do not go outside, for Allah disperses various creatures at night, and close the doors while mentioning the name of Allah, for the Shaytan does not open a door that has been closed while mentioning the name of Allah. And cover the water jars, turn the vessels upside down, and tie the mouth of the water-skins with a string."
Hadith 2685
- " أقلوا الخروج بعد هدأة الرجل، فإن لله دواب يبثهن في الأرض في تلك الساعة ".
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "After people have gone to sleep, reduce going out, because at that time Allah Almighty spreads some of His creatures on the earth."
Hadith 2686
- (كفّوا صِبْيانَكم عند فَحْمةِ العِشاءِ، وإيّاكُم والسّمر بعد هَدْأةِ الرّجلِ؛ فإنّكم لا تدرُون ما يَبُثُّ اللهُ من خَلقِه؟! فأغْلِقوا الأبوابَ، وأطفِئُوا المصْباحَ، وأكفئوا الإناء، وأوكوا السّقاء) .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "During the early darkness of the night, keep your children (inside) at home, and avoid conversation after people have gone to sleep at night, for you do not know which of Allah's creatures He may spread (on the earth). (During the night) close the doors, extinguish the lamps, turn the vessels upside down, and tie the mouth of the water-skins."
Hadith 2687
- (غَطُّوا الإناء، وأوكُوا السِّقاء؛ فإن في السّنَةِ ليلة ينزل فيها وباء لا يَمُرُّ بإناءٍ لم يُغَطَّ ولا سقاءٍ لم يُوكَ؛ إلا وقع فيه من ذلك الوباء) .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "(At night) cover the vessels and tie the mouth of the water-skins with a string, because in the year there is a night in which a plague descends, and it passes by every vessel that is not covered and every water-skin that is not tied, and it enters into it."
