Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Basrah Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him), he says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When you pass by the Jews, do not greet them with Salam, and if they greet you with Salam, then in reply say only «وعليكم» 'And upon you as well.'"

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When you meet the polytheists (and according to another narration, the People of the Book), do not initiate the greeting of peace with them, and if you encounter them on a road, force them to the narrowest part of it."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not initiate the greeting of salam to the Jews and Christians, and if you meet any of them on the road, force them to the narrowest part of it."
