Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When one of you loves his brother, he should inform him that he loves him."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When any one of you loves his companion, he should go to his house and inform him that he loves him for the sake of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic."

Mujahid (Tabi'i) says: A companion of the Messenger met me, he held my shoulders from behind and said: Be aware! I love you. I said: May the One for whose sake you love me, love you in return. The companion (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If I had not heard this hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I would not have informed you of my love: "When a person loves someone, he should inform him that he loves him." Mujahid says: Then the companion of the Messenger presented a proposal to me, saying that we have a girl, but she is one-eyed.
