Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying to his wives: "After me, those who will be kind and compassionate to you will be the truthful and patient ones." Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I sold something (i.e., a garden) to Abdullah bin Sa’d bin Abi Sarh for forty thousand, and I distributed (the entire amount) among the wives of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). May Allah have mercy on them.
