Hadith 2569
It is narrated from Asim bin Suwaid bin Yazid bin Jariyah Ansari, he says: Yahya bin Saeed narrated to me from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The chief of the Banu Ashhal tribe, Sayyiduna Usaid bin Hudair, came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and spoke about a household of Banu Zufar, in which most of the people were women (i.e., there were few men). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) distributed some wealth among the people and gave a share to Banu Zufar as well. (Upon hearing Usaid’s words) the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Usaid! (The matter is that) you did not contact us earlier, and what we had has now finished. Now, whenever you hear that I have received grain, come to me and remind me about the matter of those household members.” So, as much as Allah willed, Sayyiduna Usaid waited. Then, grain was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) from Khaybar, which included barley and dates. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) distributed it among the people. The narrator says: Then he distributed among the Ansar and gave them a lot, and then he distributed among the household of Banu Zufar and gave them a lot as well. Sayyiduna Usaid (may Allah be pleased with him) thanked him and said: O Messenger of Allah! May Allah grant you an excellent and the best reward. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Usaid (may Allah be pleased with him): “O group of Ansar! May Allah grant you also an excellent and the best reward, for according to my knowledge, you are chaste and patient people, (but remember this much) after me, you will soon see injustice in the distribution of wealth and in matters of authority (and governance), so be patient until you meet me at the Pond.”
