Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah has forgiven your lie because of your affirmation of «لا اله الا الله»." This hadith has been narrated mursal from Sayyiduna Anas, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, and Hasan al-Basri (may Allah be pleased with them), and these are the words from the hadith of Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him). And it is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a man: "O so-and-so! Did you do such and such?" He replied: "No! By the One besides whom there is no deity." But the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) knew that this person had done that deed. Then he (the Prophet) said this statement to him.
