Hadith 2460
- (ما رأيت الذي هو أبخل منك؛ إلا الذي يبخل بالسلام) .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "So-and-so has a date-palm tree in my garden, and he has caused me great distress, and the presence of his date-palm tree is a source of trouble for me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a message to him and said: "Sell me the tree that you have in so-and-so's garden." He said: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then give it to me as a gift." He said: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then give it to me in exchange for a date-palm tree in Paradise." He said: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have not seen anyone more miserly than you, except the one who is miserly in (giving) greetings; he is the most miserly of all."
