Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that a man came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "My father has passed away and he did not perform Hajj. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(Regarding this) what do you think, if your father had a debt, would you pay it off on his behalf?" He said: "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(The same is the case with Hajj, therefore) perform Hajj on behalf of your father."
