Hadith 2437
- " أما كان فيكم رجل رحيم؟! ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent out an army. They obtained spoils of war. Among them was a man who said to the people of the army: “I am not one of these people. I am in love with such-and-such woman, so I have come to her. Let me go so that I may see her once, then do with me whatever you wish.” Then they saw that she was a tall, wheat-colored woman. She said to him: “O Habish! Accept before life comes to an end. What do you think, if I pursue you and meet you at the spring of Hilyah or in the narrow mountain passes, is it not the right of the lover that he be rewarded for walking all night and in the intense heat?” The woman said: “I have sacrificed myself for you.” He went ahead with her and cut her neck. Then the woman came, stood over him, screamed loudly, and then she died. When that army came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), they informed him about it. He said: “Was there not a single merciful person among you?”
