Hadith 2385
- " من يرد الله به خيرا يفقهه في الدين وإن هذا المال حلو خضر فمن يأخذه بحقه يبارك له فيه، وإياكم والتمادح فإنه الذبح ".
Mu'abad Jahani says that Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to narrate fewer ahadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he would rarely leave out these words (or the narrator said that) he used to mention them in the Friday sermons: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When Allah intends good for someone, He grants him understanding in the religion. Wealth is sweet, lush, and attractive; whoever acquires it rightfully, it will be blessed for him. And you people should avoid praising one another, for doing so is akin to slaughtering."
Hadith 2386
- " أثقل شيء في الميزان الخلق الحسن ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The heaviest deed in the scale is good character."
Hadith 2387
- " خير الناس أحسنهم خلقا ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Which people are the best? He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Those who are the best in character."
Hadith 2388
- " أحب عباد الله إلى الله أحسنهم خلقا ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Usamah bin Sharik (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in such a manner as if birds were sitting on our heads; none of us was speaking. Suddenly, some people came and asked: Who among His servants is most beloved to Allah Almighty? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Those who have the best character."
Hadith 2389
- " اعبد الله ولا تشرك به شيئا. قال: يا نبي الله زدني. قال: إذا أسأت فأحسن. قال: يا نبي الله زدني. قال: استقم ولتحسن خلقك ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to travel and said: O Messenger of Allah! Advise me with some counsel. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him." He said, O Prophet of Allah! Give me more advice. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whenever you do an evil deed, immediately follow it with a good deed." He said, O Prophet of Allah! Give me further advice. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Remain steadfast and make your character good."
Hadith 2390
- (أفشِ السَّلام وابذلِ الطعامَ. واستحي من الله استحياءك رجُلاً من أهلك. وإذا أسأت فأحسن، ولتُحسن خُلقك ما استطعت) .
Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent me to a people. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Advise me. He (peace be upon him) said: "Spread salam (greetings of peace), feed (others), have as much modesty before Allah as you have before a member of your household, when you commit a sin then (to remove its effect) immediately do a good deed, and improve your character as much as you are able."
Hadith 2391
- " أكمل المؤمنين إيمانا أحاسنهم أخلاقا الموطؤون أكنافا الذين يألفون ويؤلفون ولا خير فيمن لا يألف ولا يؤلف ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Among the believers, the most complete in faith are those who are best in character, who are humble, who love others and are loved by them. And there is no good in a person who neither loves others nor is loved by them."
Hadith 2392
- " إن أكمل المؤمنين إيمانا أحسنهم خلقا، وإن حسن الخلق ليبلغ درجة الصوم والصلاة ".
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The most complete believer in terms of faith is the one who is best among them in character, and indeed good character reaches the rank of fasting and prayer."
Hadith 2393
- " إن الله عز وجل كريم يحب الكرم ومعالي الأخلاق، ويبغض سفسافها ".
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, Allah Almighty is kind, He loves kindness and high morals, and He dislikes bad morals.”
Hadith 2394
- " إن الرجل ليدرك بحسن خلقه درجات قائم الليل صائم النهار ".
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, a person, due to good character, attains the ranks of one who stands in prayer at night and fasts during the day."
Hadith 2395
- " إن الرجل ليدرك بحسن خلقه درجة الساهر بالليل الظامئ بالهواجر ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, a person, due to his good character, attains the rank of one who stands (in prayer) at night and endures thirst in the heat of the day (by fasting)."
Hadith 2396
- " إن المسلم المسدد ليدرك درجة الصوام القوام بآيات الله عز وجل لكرم ضريبته وحسن خلقه ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "A Muslim who is steadfast on the right path, due to his excellent temperament and good character, attains the rank of one who fasts abundantly and stands (in prayer) for long periods with the verses of Allah."
Hadith 2397
- " إن من أحبكم إلي أحسنكم خلقا ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The most beloved of you to me is the one who has the best character among you."
Hadith 2398
- " إن من أحبكم إلي وأقربكم مني مجلسا يوم القيامة أحاسنكم أخلاقا وإن أبغضكم إلي وأبعدكم مني مجلسا يوم القيامة الثرثارون والمتشدقون والمتفيهقون، قالوا: قد علمنا " الثرثارون والمتشدقون " فما " المتفيهقون؟ " قال: المتكبرون ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The most beloved to me among you and the closest to me in assembly on the Day of Resurrection will be those among you who have the best character, and the most disliked among you to me and the farthest from me on the Day of Resurrection will be those who are talkative, those who twist their mouths when speaking, and those who are arrogant." The Companions said: We understand the meaning of «ثرثارون» and «متشدقون», but what is meant by «متفيقهون»? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The arrogant."
Hadith 2399
- " إنما بعثت لأتمم مكارم (وفي رواية صالح) الأخلاق ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I have only been sent for the purpose of perfecting moral character."
Hadith 2400
- (إنَّما يهدِي إلى أحسنِ الأخلاق: اللهُ، وإنّما يصرفُ مِن أسوَئها هُو) .
It is narrated from Tawoos, he says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the pulpit: "It is Allah Almighty who guides towards good character, and He alone is the One who removes bad character."
Hadith 2401
- " عليك بحسن الكلام، وبذل الطعام ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hani (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: When I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with the delegation, I said: O Messenger of Allah! Which deed makes Paradise obligatory? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Adhere to speaking good words and feeding (others).”
Hadith 2402
- " إنه من أعطي حظه من الرفق، فقد أعطي حظه من خير الدنيا والآخرة وصلة الرحم وحسن الخلق وحسن الجوار يعمران الديار ويزيدان في الأعمار ".
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Whoever is granted gentleness, has been given a share of goodness and well-being in this world and the Hereafter. And maintaining ties of kinship, good character, and treating neighbors well (such acts of goodness) populate homes (and tribes) and increase lifespans."
Hadith 2403
- " أكثر ما يدخل الناس الجنة تقوى الله وحسن الخلق وأكثر ما يدخل الناس النار الفم والفرج ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says that it was asked from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "Which thing will admit most people into Paradise?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fear of Allah and good character. And the thing that will admit most people into Hell is the mouth and the private parts."
Hadith 2404
- " خياركم أحاسنكم أخلاقا ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best among you are those who have the best character among you."
Hadith 2405
- " خياركم إسلاما، أحاسنكم أخلاقا إذا فقهوا ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "The best among you in terms of Islam are those who are best in character, provided they gain understanding in the religion."
Hadith 2406
- " صل من قطعك وأحسن إلى من أساء إليك وقل الحق ولو على نفسك ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: When I took possession of the weapons of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), I found a piece of paper in the sword of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). It was written in it: "Maintain ties with the one who severs relations with you, treat well the one who treats you badly, and speak the truth even if it is against yourself."
Hadith 2407
- " ما عمل ابن آدم شيئا أفضل من الصلاة، وصلاح ذات البين، وخلق حسن ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The son of Adam has not done any deed better than prayer, mutual reconciliation, and good character."
Hadith 2408
- " عليك بحسن الخلق وطول الصمت، فوالذي نفسي بيده ما عمل الخلائق بمثلهما ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) met Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "O Abu Dharr! Shall I not inform you of two qualities, the performance of which is easy, but they will be heavier on the scale than all other good deeds?" He said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Adhere to good character and prolonged silence. By Him in Whose hand is my soul! The creation has not done any deed equal to (these two virtues)."
Hadith 2409
- " أنا زعيم بيت في ربض الجنة لمن ترك المراء وإن كان محقا، وبيت في وسط الجنة لمن ترك الكذب وإن كان مازحا، وبيت في أعلى الجنة لمن حسن خلق ".
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I guarantee a house in the surroundings of Paradise for the one who gives up arguing, even if he is in the right (and relinquishes his right), and a house in the middle of Paradise for the one who does not lie even as a joke, and a house in the highest part of Paradise for the one whose character is good."
