Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him), he says that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by a heap of filth, where the dead body of a young goat was lying. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Do its owners have any need for it?” The companions said: “O Messenger of Allah! If they had any need for it, they would not have thrown it away like this.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “By Allah! This dead young goat is as worthless in the eyes of its owners, but the world is even more insignificant than this. So I do not want to find any of you in such a state that the world has destroyed him.”
