Hadith 2336
- " أما إن كل بناء وبال على صاحبه إلا ما لا، إلا ما لا، يعني: ما لابد منه ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went out and saw a tall dome and said: (What is this?) The companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This belongs to such-and-such Ansari man. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent and kept this matter in his heart. When its owner came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and greeted him in the presence of the people, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from him. He greeted several times (but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept turning away). Eventually, the man realized the displeasure and aversion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He complained about this to the companions and said: By Allah! I find the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) strange and unfamiliar. They said: (Actually) the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had gone out and saw your dome. So the man immediately returned to his dome and demolished it, leveling it with the ground. (Then) one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went out and did not see the dome. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: “What happened to the dome?” The companions said: Its owner had complained to us about your turning away, and we explained the whole situation of your dislike to him, so he demolished it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Beware! Every building is a burden for its owner, except that for which there is no alternative.”

Hadith 2337
- " إن الرجل يؤجر في نفقته كلها إلا في هذا التراب ".
We went to visit our master Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him), who had seven scars on his body, to inquire about his health. He said: If I had not heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Do not wish for death," I would certainly have wished for death. He was repairing his wall (i.e., house, etc.), and in the meantime he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A man is rewarded for every kind of expenditure except for what he spends on this mud (i.e., there is no reward for building a house)."
