Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man came to me and said, "Advise me." I said, "I had asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) the same question before you, and he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: 'I advise you to fear Allah, for it is the foundation of everything, and adhere to jihad, for it is the monasticism in Islam, and be constant in the remembrance of Allah and the recitation of the Qur'an, for it will be a source of mercy for you in the heavens and a source of good mention for you on the earth.'"
