Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Amr bin Al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) not in a concealed manner, but openly, saying: "Indeed, the family of Abu so-and-so are not my friends. My friends are Allah, and the righteous believers."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, the pious people will be my friends, even if they are not close to me in lineage (or even if they are). (Beware) lest it happens that people bring (righteous) deeds to me, while you bring the world (with its betrayals and the rights of others that you have usurped) on your shoulders and call out: O Muhammad! And I, turning away to this side and that, will say: No." Then he turned to both his sides.
