Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you see that a man is being given sustenance in this world despite his evildoings, then (understand that) he is being given respite by Allah Almighty, as mentioned in this verse: «فَلَمَّا نَسُوا مَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوَابَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى إِذَا فَرِحُوا بِمَا أُوتُوا أَخَذْنَاهُمْ بَغْتَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ مُبْلِسُونَ» 'Then, when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of everything, until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were plunged into destruction with deep regret.' (6-Al-An'am:44)"
