Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Rifa‘ah bin Rafi‘ Zurqi (may Allah be pleased with him) says that Jibril (peace be upon him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and asked: “How do you regard the people of Badr among yourselves?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: “The most excellent among all Muslims.” He (Jibril) said: “Likewise are the angels who were present at the Battle of Badr (the most excellent among the angels).”
