Altruism of the Ash‘ari people
Hadith 2138
- (إنّ الأشْعريّين إذا أرملُوا في الغزْو، أو قلَّ طعامُ عِيالهم بالمدينةِ؛ جمعُوا ما كانَ عندَهم في ثوْبٍ واحدٍ، ثم اقتسمُوه بينهم في إناءٍ واحدٍ بالسَّوِيَّةِ، فهم منّي وأنا منهم) .
Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, during a battle, when some of the Ash‘ari people run short of provisions, or when the food of their families in Madinah becomes scarce, whatever anyone has, they gather it all together in a cloth, then they distribute it equally among themselves with the help of a vessel. These people are from me and I am from them."
