Hadith 2073
- " كان لا يسأل شيئا إلا أعطاه، أو سكت ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The people of the tribe of Hawazin came on the day of Hunayn along with their women, children, camels, and goats. They lined them up in rows to show their numbers against the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When the clash occurred between the Muslims and the polytheists, the Muslims turned their backs and fled, as Allah Almighty has mentioned. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger.” He further said: “O group of Ansar! I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger.” Allah Almighty defeated the polytheists; neither was anyone wounded by a spear nor struck by a sword. On that day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever kills a disbeliever, then the spoils taken from him will belong to the killer.” Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) killed twenty men that day and took their wealth and belongings. Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! I struck a man on the tendon of his shoulder and he was wearing armor. Before I could seize his spoils, someone else took them. O Messenger of Allah! Please see, who is that person? A man said: O Messenger of Allah! I took that wealth. Please appease Qatadah on my behalf and let the wealth remain with me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent, and whenever anything was requested from him, he would give it, or he would remain silent. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: No, by Allah! (It will not happen like this) Allah Almighty has given wealth to one of His lions, and you (O Prophet) would give it to him. Upon hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled.
