Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Ya’la bin Munyah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) announced jihad. I was an old man and I did not have any servant. I looked for a laborer who could suffice for me and who would be given his share. I found a man. When the time for departure drew near, he came to me and said: I do not know what two shares are and how much my share will be. You fix (my wages) for me, whether I get a share or not. I fixed three dinars for him. When the spoils were distributed, I intended to give him his share, but suddenly I remembered the dinars. I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and presented this matter before him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In my view, in this expedition, he will get nothing in this world or the Hereafter except the dinars that were fixed for him.
