Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Awn bin Muhammad Hanafi narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather, Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Make it a habit to use antimony (ithmid) kohl, for it grows hair, removes eye discharge (and stickiness), and brightens the eyesight."

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say, "Use antimony (ithmid) kohl when you go to sleep, for it brightens the eyesight and grows (the eyelashes') hair."
