How to balance watermelon’s coolness and date’s heat
Hadith 1910
- " كان يأكل القثاء بالرطب ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to eat cucumber with fresh dates.
Hadith 1911
- كان يأكل البطيخ بالرطب فيقول: " نكسر حر هذا ببرد هذا وبرد هذا بحر هذا ".
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to eat watermelon with fresh dates and would say: “We neutralize the heat of this (date) with the coolness of this (watermelon), and its coolness with the heat of this.”
Hadith 1912
- " كان يأكل الرطب مع الخربز. يعني البطيخ ".
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to eat fresh dates mixed with watermelon.
