The Prophet’s favorite vegetable
Hadith 1908
- " كان يحب الدباء ".
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked bottle gourd (kaddu).
Hadith 1909
- " هذا القرع - هو الدباء - نكثر به طعامنا ".
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Tariq (who is also called Ibn Abi Tariq) رضي الله عنه says: I went to the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم at his house and there were some gourds with him. I asked: What is this? The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم replied: "These are gourds; we use them a lot in our food."
