Hadith 1880

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) says: A goat was given to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as a gift, and that day the amount of food was little. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his family: "Cook this goat, check the flour, make its bread, then cook them and make tharid (a dish of bread and meat)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a large bowl called "gharra’" (a tub-like vessel), which four men could lift. When morning came and the companions had performed the Duha prayer, that same bowl was brought. People gathered (to eat), and when the number of eaters increased, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sat on his knees. A Bedouin said: What kind of sitting is this? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has made me a humble, honored servant, not a tyrant or arrogant." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat from the edges of the bowl, not from the top (i.e., the middle), in this way there will be blessing for you." Then he said: "Take and eat, by the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the lands of Persia and Rome will surely be conquered for you, and there will be such abundance of food that the name of Allah will not be mentioned (over it)."
