Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When a servant prepares food for someone, since he has spared him from the heat and cold of the food, he (the master or owner) should make him sit with him (so that he may also eat the food), and if he refuses to do so, then he should give him some of the food."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a servant brings food to any of you, he should make him sit with him so that he may also eat. If he refuses to do so, then he should give him food (so that he may eat separately)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a servant brings food for anyone among you, he should make him sit with him (to eat); if he does not wish to make him sit with him, then he should give him one or two morsels, for he prepared the food and endured its heat."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When a servant brings food for someone, he should make him sit with him, or else give him something (to eat), because it is the servant who has endured its heat and smoke.
